The Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnois invites all those who have lost a loved one to come together in prayer and remembrance at the upcoming Annual Bereavement Masses.
These Masses are a special opportunity to remember those who have died, give thanks for their lives and find comfort in the faith and support of our parish communities. For many families, the loss of a loved one remains deeply felt long after the funeral, and coming together in prayer can offer a moment of peace, reflection and hope.
St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford
The Annual Bereavement Mass for relatives and friends of those who have died in or from the parishes of Templemichael and Ballymacormack since last year’s Mass will take place at the 7.30pm Vigil Mass on Saturday, 7 November 2026, in St Mel’s Cathedral, Longford.
During the celebration, a member of each family will be invited to bring a candle forward and place it before the altar in memory of their loved one. Families are also welcome to bring a photograph of the person they wish to remember and place it in the sanctuary during the Mass.
Following the celebration, families are invited to gather in the Cathedral Crypt for tea or coffee and an opportunity to spend time together.
All families who have lost a loved one are warmly invited to attend, including those who may not have received a personal invitation.
Clonguish Parish
The Annual Bereavement Mass in Clonguish Parish will take place at the 10.30am Mass on Sunday, 15 November 2026.
The celebration will provide an opportunity for the parish community to remember those who have died, pray for their eternal rest and offer support to their bereaved families.
Bereavement Masses in Our Local Parishes
Bereavement Masses are an important part of parish life throughout the Diocese. Many parishes hold their own annual Bereavement Mass in their local church, offering families an opportunity to remember loved ones who have died during the past year and to come together in prayer.
Families are encouraged to contact their local parish to find out when their Bereavement Mass will take place.
A Time for Prayer, Remembrance and Hope
The loss of someone we love can leave a lasting sadness, but our faith reminds us that we do not walk through grief alone. Through prayer, the celebration of the Eucharist and the support of our parish communities, we remember those who have gone before us and entrust them to the loving mercy of God.
These annual celebrations remind us that every life is precious, every person is remembered, and the bonds of love continue even in the face of death.
All are welcome to join in these Masses as we remember our loved ones, pray for the bereaved and find hope in the promise of eternal life.
“Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May they rest in peace. Amen.”
