The Pope John Paul II Awards presentation ceremony took place in St. Mel’s Cathedral on Sunday 21st October.
Medals and certificates were presented by Bishop Francis Duffy and Mr Ignatius Lynam, representing the Knights of St. Columbanus.
Awards were presented to 113 young people in recognition of their participation in both parish and community activities.
Recipients, many of whom were Transition Year students, were drawn from 8 schools throughout the diocese, namely, Banagher College; Gallen Community School, Ferbane; Moate Community School; Ballymahon Vocational School; Mercy Secondary School, Ballymahon; Mean Scoil Mhuire, Longford; Mohill Community College and Carrick-on-Shannon Community School.
