Pattern Sunday – 13th September

The annual Pattern Sunday at Clonmacnois will take place on Sunday, 13th September, as pilgrims and members of the local community gather at the historic monastic site for an afternoon of prayer and remembrance.

Clonmacnois has been a place of Christian pilgrimage for centuries, and Pattern Sunday continues this living tradition of faith, bringing people together to pray in the footsteps of generations who have journeyed to this sacred place.

The afternoon will include Pattern Prayers followed by the celebration of Mass, providing an opportunity for those gathered to reflect on the rich spiritual heritage of Clonmacnois and to pray for the needs of the Church, our communities and our families.

The celebration is also an opportunity to remember the many generations who have maintained the tradition of pilgrimage at Clonmacnois and to encourage its continuation for future generations.

As people gather once again among the ancient churches, crosses and monastic remains, the Pattern reminds us that the Christian faith is not simply something handed down in history, but something that continues to be lived, celebrated and passed on.

All are welcome to join in this special annual celebration at Clonmacnois on Sunday, 13 September.
