Prayer for the Appointment of a new Bishop
For now the Cathedra (Latin for “Chair”) in St. Mel’s Cathedral, Longford lies vacant. It is a waiting time, but not a helpless period. All are invited to pray for a new shepherd for Ardagh & Clonmacnois Diocese. This is a suggested prayer that may be used over the coming weeks and months as we await the appointment of a new shepherd for the diocese:
God, shepherd and guide, in your mercy, give your Church in our diocese a shepherd after your own heart who will walk in your ways, and with loving care watch over your people.
Give us a leader of vision and a teacher of your truth.
So may your Church be built up and your name glorified;
through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen.
