In a very unusual move, the enclosed Poor Clare Sisters by arrangement with Bishop Francis Duffy visited parts of our Diocese on Sunday, 29th July. They recently have received 3 sisters from the Philippines and the reason for the pilgrimage to St. Mel’s Cathedral, Longford, the first Cathedral at Ardagh Village and to Clonmacnois was to give the “new” Sisters some sense of the faith heritage of the Diocese of Ardagh and Clonmacnoise in which they will be praying. One can only be humbled by the service and witness of these great women of prayer as we welcomed them to the land of Ciaran.

Mother Angela and one of the Community try out the famous “Whispering Arch”- it worked! Just above the doorway is St. Dominic, Patrick and Sr. Francis watching over the Poor Clares..
