DEDICATION OF ST MEL’S CATHEDRAL
As we keep this day as a Solemnity in this Holy Place, a lighted candle marks each of the places anointed with the Holy Chrism on this day in 1856 when St Mel’s Cathedral was dedicated. The walls were marked again with Chrism five years ago last Sunday at its rededication after the fire of Christmas 2009. Of course, Chrism is used mostly in the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation & Holy Orders—a reminder that we are Holy People, other Christs. We are all living stones building a spiritual house! (1 Peter 2:5)
