Fr James MacKiernan announces parish tickets for Croke Park
The Festival of Families will be one of the highlights of WMOF2018 and is choreographed as a celebration of family life. Details of the programme have just been released, which include national and international performers, hundreds of musicians, dancers, choirs and flag-bearers and features community-based groups and artists.
This week every Parish in the Diocese will receive 10 tickets for the Festival of Families taking place in Croke Park on Saturday evening, 25th August. It is hoped that at least one family will come from each Parish, with the remaining tickets being distributed at the Parishes own discretion.
It is essential that immediately each Parish would indicate if these tickets are going to be used, otherwise they will be reclaimed by the WMOF office for redistribution.
Also if Parishes are running a us to the Phoenix Park, and have registered this bus with the WMOF office you will receive 50 additional tickets with your bus. There is no need for parishioners to register individually with WMOF if the WMOF office has been informed of your bus. If parishioners going on the bus have registered individually, the Parish should redistribute these extra bus tickets locally, or if the Parish does not need these additional tickets, please contact the WMOF office 01-5676800 so that they can be reclaimed and re distributed to others”.
Pope Francis will deliver an address to the families in the stadium and will hear five family testimonies, shared by families from Ireland, Canada, India, Iraq and Africa.
The selection of themes and artists featured in the event reflect many of the priorities in the ministry of Pope Francis including homelessness and those on the margins; migrants and refugees; care for our common home and the importance of the family.
