ARDAGH & CLONMACNOIS KNOCK PILGRIMAGE

Clonmacnoise Co Offaly Ireland
High Cross & Round Tower

Sunday, September 3rd saw Bishop Francis Duffy lead our Diocesan Family to Knock Shrine. A large crowd gathered for what is for many a month of new beginnings and as our Diocese marks shortly our Diocesan preparation for the World Meeting of Families. The Icon for the World Meeting of Families that was “written” by the Redemptoristines and unveiled on August 21st last during the Knock Novena was present during the Diocesan Pilgrimage. St. Mel’s Cathedral Choir led us in prayer and the homily was delivered by Fr. Tom Cox Adm., Clonmacnois Parish.

September 10th sees the Annual Pattern” or traditional pilgrimage to Clonmacnois Monastic Site in our Diocese. The Name “Ciaran” is popular in the Offaly portion of our Diocese and this week welcomed students and staff of  the newly formed Coláiste Chiaráin Secondary School in Athlone as they begin their Academic Year in a new school.

The Pattern will also see the launch of the Diocesan Program for the World Meeting of Families 2018. We ask the intercession of St. Ciaran of Clonmacnois and St. Mel of Ardagh on our Diocesan family as we prepare together.
