150th Anniversary: Marriage and Family.

Fr. Murray presided at this Mass for Marriage and family.
The reading was from
1Corinthians 13 ('without love I am simply a gong booming… Love is patient and kind…') and the Gospel was John 2:1-12, the wedding at Cana.
Our speaker this evening was Aileen Walsh, a native of the parish, and she spoke about the effeect the 'Celtic Tiger' has had on the institutions of marriage and family, and the fact that we have made much economic advances at the expense (some would say at too great an expense) of these (which Pope John Paul reminded us were at the heart of a healthy society). She reminded us, though, that the Christian response to any areas of seeming darkness is one of HOPE.
Angie Bannon provided our music. The O'Flaherty family, Triona, Dennis and Aoife brought up the gifts; Regina Bushell read the epistle, and Joanne and Colm Croughan led us in the prayer of the faithful.
